Association Agreement with the EU already fulfilled by 61% - Stefanishyna

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

"European integration government and Verkhovna Rada sessions that have been initiated are proving effective. At present, 61% of the Association Agreement with the EU has been implemented. We will continue the tradition of European Integration Days in order to accelerate the implementation of the agreement, bring Ukraine closer to European standards and deeper integration into the European Union,” Stefanishyna told a European integration meeting, at which government officials adopted and supported a number of decisions aimed at fulfilling Ukraine's international obligations.

According to the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the government supported the following European integration bills:

"On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning Strengthening the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights," which is aimed at achieving the European level of protection of intellectual property rights and improving the protection of intellectual property rights in court;

"On marking the geographical origin of alcoholic beverages," aiming to introduce European standards for alcoholic beverages, which will facilitate access of Ukrainian liquors to the EU market, as well as ensure the implementation of the Association Agreement on legal protection of the geographical origin marking for alcoholic beverages;

"On the National Register of Emissions and Transfer of Pollutants," aimed at creating and operating the register, setting up a single unified electronic system of access to data on the environment for both the authorities and the general public;

"On sewage disposal in settlements," which introduces the necessary conditions for citizens to receive quality sewerage services while reducing wastewater’s negative impact on the environment.

It is also reported that the government has approved technical regulations on ecodesign requirements for solid fuel boilers, ventilation systems, storage, intensive cooling and shock freezing chambers, condensing units and refrigeration units.

"Such decisions ensure compliance with environmental safety standards for both human health and the environment, as well as implement European standards," said the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the second stage of the EUkraine government communication campaign has been completed in Ukraine, during which 15 million Ukrainians had the opportunity to learn about the values ​​of the European Union and Ukraine’s achievements toward European integration.
