With Amazon's big shopping event, Prime Day, coinciding with a UK heatwave, bargain hunters have been snapping up a portable air conditioning unit reduced to just £26.39 for the occasion.

With hot weather rarely lasting long enough to make installing full air conditioning in UK homes worthwhile, the bargain USB-powered option is one of a host of low energy, low budget air conditioners discounted in the sale and perfect for helping keep people cool.

The TKLake portable water-cooled mini air conditioner helps cool and purify air. It's powered by USB and works at three speeds. It also has seven-colour LED lights which can be used as a night light if you're trying to keep children's rooms cool overnight.

Second only to Black Friday in terms of discounts, Amazon Prime Day sees shoppers given some of the best shopping discounts of 2022 so far, with the retailer traditionally discounting thousands of different products for anything between one hour to 48 hours.

Amazon Prime Day officially launched at midnight this morning and runs until 11.59pm on Wednesday, June 13. Popular early deals on Amazon products include £34.99 Kindle e-readers, £34.99 Kindle Fire tablets, a £16.99 Echo Dot but from this morning there are also discounts on a host of other beloved brands including a Instant Pot smart cooker reduced to 56.99, a Shark hoover reduced by 50% to £159.99 and Lego sets including Harry Potter, Minecraft and more up to 44% off.
